Interdisciplinary Advances in Health, Environment, and Biotechnology: From Pandemic Insights to Sustainable Therapeutics

The COVID-19 pandemic has underscored the deep links between public health, environmental change, and biotechnology. This paper reviews recent interdisciplinary research at the nexus of these domains. We examine pandemic-era insights into mental health, disease biomarkers, and vaccine development. We explore how environmental challenges from climate-driven disease dynamics to sustainable agriculture intersect with human health. Advances in biotechnology, including AI-driven drug discovery, gene editing, and bio-based therapeutics, are highlighted for their roles in building resilience. We also discuss practical data sources and experiments, such as global health and climate datasets, that inform policy and treatment strategies. This review links findings on chronic diseases, infectious threats, and environmental sustainability. Key topics include mental health impacts of COVID-19 (e.g. anxiety and depression prevalence), antimicrobial resistance trends, and innovative therapies (e.g. nanomedicine, plant-derived drugs. The synthesis underscores the need for One Health approaches that integrate medical, ecological, and technological solutions. Our findings suggest that combating future pandemics and achieving sustainable health outcomes will rely on cross-disciplinary collaboration, data-driven policies, and green biotechnologies.
